Open Road would hit a dead end if it didn’t have the right sort of modern cars for trainees to work on in the workshop in Rollersby Road. Fortunately the charity has a fantastic supporter in Copart the nationwide used and salvage car auction experts.

For the current academic year Copart has already delivered a consignment of vehicles on which trainees can learn modern mechanical engineering techniques which will equip them for employment within the motor trade.

Open Road Trustee Terry Smith said: “Without the kind cooperation of organisations such as Copart we would struggle to deliver the level of training that we do.”

“Our trainees are learning their skills on modern cars packed with new technologies and that means they will be employable in the most modern mechanical engineering workshops in the future.”
